Together on the Roads

“Together on the Roads” is an annual road safety campaign we launched in 2022 that is part of our long-term social responsibility programme, in which we want to draw attention to the importance of safe driving. A further goal of the campaign is to emphasise that safe and sensible driving is a responsibility we all share. As a car manufacturer, we also consider it important to contribute actively to improving driving culture in Hungary, in addition to producing safe cars.

Why road safety? Safety is a key area for Magyar Suzuki: according to our company’s philosophy, accident-free traffic depends not only on safe and modern cars, but also on the behaviour of drivers and courteous conduct on the road. The “Together on the roads” campaign focuses on road safety because there is an urgent need for a change of attitude in this area: safety on the roads is a shared responsibility, which requires cooperation and awareness at the social level. Under the programme, we as a company strive to educate road users with the involvement of experts and opinion leaders, and to show positive examples and solutions to problems that arise in everyday traffic.

A special feature of the campaign is that it deals with a different topic from year to year, always focusing on a specific traffic problem. In 2022, the focus was on reducing road stress and aggression – this is when the so-called “courtesy Highway Code” was born, a 14-point recommendation to promote civilised and polite conduct on the road.

In 2023, the campaign drew attention to helping emergency vehicles using lights and sirens (ambulances, firefighters, police), with the slogan “Give way, save lives!”, emphasising that the cooperation and courtesy of road users can save lives in an emergency.

In 2024, the focus was on supporting novice and inexperienced drivers ("You Were Also a Beginner Driver”): the goal was to enable insecure and inexperienced drivers to drive on the roads confidently, without fear and stress. To this end, the company encouraged more experienced drivers and the wider community to relate to these drivers with more patience and empathy, to help them gain experience and strengthen their self-confidence.
