S-CROSS: Hungary’s most popular passenger car in 2025
The S-CROSS and Vitara, two models manufactured at Suzuki’s Esztergom factory, were among the three most popular models in Hungary based on new passenger car registration data for 2025. Last year, the majority of buyers opted for the S-CROSS. According to data from Datahouse, Magyar Suzuki maintained its leading position on the new passenger car market with 14.285 registered vehicles and a market share of 11,04 %. The third most popular model in the ranking was the Vitara. The Swift, as in 2024, was once again the winner in the B-segment.
Similarly to other players in the automotive industry, Magyar Suzuki focused on stable and cost-effective operations and maintaining its competitiveness, while also striving to come up with payment structures and discounts that make Suzuki models even more attractive. The fact that the Esztergom-based manufacturer remained stable was largely due to the factory modernisation developments that took place throughout the year, as well as the popularity of the two domestic models, the S-CROSS and the Vitara.
The S-CROSS was the best-selling car with 6.500 units sold, while the Vitara came in third place with 5.590 units sold among all new passenger cars sold in Hungary. The demand for hybrid models is well illustrated by the fact that, despite five difficult years marked by a pandemic, energy crisis, geopolitical conflicts and inflation, the 500,000th model with this drive system was produced in Esztergom in 2025. The anniversary hybrid was an
S-CROSS and found its way to a new owner in France. Meanwhile, the one millionth Vitara was produced in February last year and then won the Audience Award for the second time in its history at the Hungarian Car of the Year 2025 competition.
14.258 registered cars, 11,04 percent market share
Magyar Suzuki expected slight growth in the total new car market in Hungary compared to last year. In the end, the sector recorded 6,44 percent growth. The Esztergom-based manufacturing company began series production in 1992, and based on new car sales data for 2025 it finished in the market-leading position for the 22nd time with 14.258 registered vehicles and a 11,04 percent market share.
Swift is also popular
Among the other imported hybrid Suzuki models not manufactured in Esztergom but also sold in Hungary, 1.967 Swifts were registered, earning the model first place in the B-segment small car category.
At the end of last year, Suzuki’s first global electric model, the eVITARA, arrived in Hungary, combining the classic SUV experience with modern electric technology, a range of up to 428 kilometres and 45-minute fast charging. Buyers can choose between two-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel drive (AllGrip-e) versions, as well as three trim levels: GL, GL+ and GLX. Featuring the new AllGrip-e system and SUZUKI CONNECT service, the eVITARA aims to set a new benchmark for compact electric SUVs. Pre-sales began last year at dealerships throughout Hungary.
