New Managing Director at Magyar Suzuki Corporation

Fumito Sakai will assume the role of managing director of Magyar Suzuki Corporation effective March 1, 2026. He succeeds Masato Atsumi, who led the Esztergom-based automotive manufacturer for nearly five years and will continue his career in Japan.

Fumito Sakai joined the Suzuki Group in 2000. During the years he held several Europe related positions at Suzuki Motor Corporation. Between 2015-2018 Fumito Sakai was stationed in Hungary and acted as an Executive General Manager at Magyar Suzuki. Directly prior to his appointment as Managing Director at Magyar Suzuki he acted as Department Manager for Central & Eastern Europe Department at Suzuki Motor Corporation in Japan.

„It is a great pleasure and honor for me to join Magyar Suzuki. In line with our parent company's mission statement, my goal for the upcoming years is to help Magyar Suzuki to continue a close and reliable presence for our customers and partners and to grow sustainably together by sincerely addressing social demands in this changing automotive industry landscape”, Fumito Sakai said.

"Five years ago, I took over the duties of Managing Director of Magyar Suzuki in a particularly difficult period. However, when I arrived in the middle of the coronavirus, a well-organized team helped my work. In the years that followed, new unexpected challenges tested our community, while the automotive industry began to undergo a complete transformation. I am proud that Magyar Suzuki has maintained its stability even in these difficult circumstances and continues to be one of Hungary's key economic players. The models manufactured in Esztergom are exported to more than 100 countries around the world, and the cars manufactured here are also very popular on the domestic market. In addition, the Esztergom plant also plays a significant role within our company group, as we provide a number of European-level services from Esztergom. I am especially proud of the developments of recent years, which focus on factory modernization, efficiency improvement, digitalization and carbon-neutral operation. All of this will strengthen not only the competitiveness of Magyar Suzuki, but also its role within the Suzuki Group. I would like to thank my colleagues, partners and suppliers for their always constructive and forward-looking cooperation, and I wish the whole company every success!”, said Masato Atsumi, the outgoing Managing Director.
