Magyar Suzuki – On the Top for the 6th Time

With 17 650 passenger cars registered, Suzuki reached an 14,48 percent market share on the domestic new passenger car market in 2021. The brand – primarily thanks to its domestically produced Vitara and the new S-CROSS model that made its debut at the end of last year – has been leading new passenger car sales in Hungary for six years. The Japanese brand which sells only hybrid passenger cars in the EU markets in line with its green aspirations will further expand its hybrid selection manufactured in Esztergom in 2022. With the new hybrid system, the Vitara will be available first, and later, in the second half of the year the new S-CROSS.

Unstoppably leading the market despite the difficulties of the global industry

A total number of 17 650 Suzuki passenger cars were registered in 2021 based on the new car sales statistics of Datahouse. The 14,48 percentage of the total number of passenger cars commissioned last year (121 920 units) were Suzuki models. So, after 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 Suzuki confidently maintained its market-leading position in 2021 despite the global chip shortage.

Two Suzuki hybrid models manufactured in Esztergom on top

Vitara – manufactured in Esztergom leads the SUV urban leisure category with 32,01 percent segment-share along with the passenger car category. A total of 8350 units was registered from the model between 1st January and 31st December 2021. Thanks to the Hybrid Pro 3+7 years (or 200 000 km) warranty covering the engine, the transmission, the turbo unit, and the hybrid elements, combined with the country-wide service network and of course the well-known and stable quality of the brand, new car buyers welcomed Suzuki’s alternative drive system models well available from 2020 January. The brand only sells hybrid vehicles in the EU markets.

In the TOP 3 models of the new passenger car market, the domestically manufactured - debuted in a new form last November - SX4 S-CROSS ranks second. By the end of the year, a total number of 6261 models were sold from the most popular lower-middle-class new car in Hungary, which is 22,67 percent of all lower-middle-class models sold (27 614 units). The model is popular among both private and fleet customers, thus ranks first in the mid-range. In the new model, Suzuki combines bold leisure (SUV) style with comfort, offering a powerful yet environmentally conscious driving experience, advanced safety features and connected features.

Nearly 2,800 employees and 770 robots are involved in the production of the two series at the Magyar Suzuki factory, at the foot of Pilis Mountains.

From other imported hybrid models of Suzuki produced abroad but also available in Hungary 2314 pieces of Swift were registered, what makes the model lead the B-segment with 20,45 percent. 513 pieces of Ignis, 203 pieces of Swace and 9 units from the electric-powered SUV Across were commissioned in 2021.

Thanks to its own production and import models, Magyar Suzuki Corporation thus offers customers a full range of hybrid alternatives. In 2022, a new hybrid system will be added to the model range manufactured in Esztergom, which will be available first in the Vitara and later in the second half of the year in the S-CROSS.
