Confidence instead of fear – Magyar Suzuki employees learn life-saving skills
As part of the “Together on the roads – First aid can save lives!” campaign, an extraordinary experience awaited Magyar Suzuki employees and their families at the Suzuki Arena in Esztergom this year. With the professional help of the Hungarian Red Cross, participants were able to learn basic life-saving skills in a fun way at interactive stations.
Those who aren’t afraid to act can save lives – it is no wonder that this was the key message of Magyar Suzuki's first aid day. The company’s representative survey also showed that 46 percent of drivers are afraid to help, while 21 percent feel they don’t have the knowledge to do so. At the same time, those who have refreshed their first aid knowledge in the past 1-2 years are much more prepared to act in an emergency.
The survey related to the campaign also showed that most people refreshed their knowledge as part of workplace training (52%), but many also did so when obtaining their driver’s licence, for the birth of a child or during a community event. This proves that if the knowledge is easily accessible and presented in an engaging way, the majority of people are open to learning.
The corporate first aid day helped to promote this change in attitude, where participants were able to try out CPR, care for wounds and practise ways to control bleeding, as well as patient handling and bandaging.
“First aid knowledge is not just theory, but a skill that can give you real confidence in everyday life. We were so proud that our colleagues were so open and active in the programme,” said Zsuzsanna Bonnár-Csonka, head of corporate communications at Magyar Suzuki.
Magyar Suzuki has now launched its road safety programme for the fourth year running. As part of the “Together on the Roads” campaign, each year they draw attention to a socially significant topic that requires awareness and education.
