13 August 2013.

Magyar Suzuki Corporation won a HUF 207 717 000 EU grant within the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan for Economic Development Operative Program. In Suzuki’s new project of next generation model prototype development and production, Magyar Suzuki Zrt. develops the prototypes of two models that are of strategic importance to the brand: the face-lifted Swift and Swift Sport, and the new SX4.

The model to get into serial production soon was first introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 2012, by the fantasy name of S-Cross. The world premier of the compact SUV, which is a lot larger than the present SX4, was at the 83rd Geneva International Motor Show, on 5 March. The new model is manufactured in the Esztergom factory of Magyar Suzuki. Its introduction at the same time marks the beginning of an expansion program, within which Magyar Suzuki Corporation targets new export markets, increases the production volume, while the Esztergom manufacturing base gets an even more important role in the global strategy of Suzuki.

The other prototype is the model facelift of Swift, which means that two new versions appear in addition to the development of existing types: the four-wheel drive Swift and the five-door Swift Sport. The 4x4 Swift re-appears in the product range of Suzuki after fifteen years, while the five-door Swift Sport is introduced to the market now.

Numerous new mechanical results are to be expected in the project supported by the New Széchenyi Plan. The newly introduced technologies, tools and procedures are designed, tested and modified by the engineers of Magyar Suzuki Corporation in cooperation with Japanese specialists.

Both prototypes significantly increase the competitiveness of Suzuki. Starting the serial production in 2013 as a result of the development, will result in marketing safer and more environmentally friendly vehicles which can also be sold better.

The sum of the grant won within the framework of the New Széchenyi Plan for Economic Development Operative Program is 207 717 000 HUF.
