Suzuki unveiled their new retro model SV650X as a sensation of the Tokyo Motor Show, not long before the European market had the opportunity to get a close look at the latest café racer icon in Milan, Italy. The revival of the concept came as no surprise, since Suzuki had already made public that they would favour retro fans with their SV-based motorbike.
The new model SV650X first shown to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show blends top-notch technology with traditional design, i.e. the advanced technology motor bike represents retro style.
SV650X is based on the earlier SV650, though it is a modified, advanced version of the base model. Being a sporty motor bike, the new SV650S features clip-on handlebars, with 2 additional LED lamps next to the headlights, and a sporty retro-style wind screen. The all-new stylish, sewn leather saddle is an eye-catching design element of SV650X, though the proven SV suspensions, as well as the front fork and the rear monoshock suspension so characteristic of the earlier model were left untouched.
Suzuki designers have made use of the proven engine of the base model, as the 645 cc V-twin powerhead meets the highest expectations. The 4-stroke, water-cooled V2 powerhead provides 75 HP at 8500 rpm, while it has a power output of 64 Nm at 8100 rpm.
Suzuki establishes another category in its portfolio with model SV650X, ready to play a leading role among current café racer models.
