INNOVATION AWARD FOR 4-STROKE OUTBOARDS
The number of innovation awards granted to Suzuki during recent years demonstrates Suzuki’s commitment to delivering high quality, innovative and dependable products to boaters. The awards are, first of all, for the recognition of the work of Suzuki’s engineering team.
Suzuki Motor Corporation’s new flagship 350-horsepower four-stroke outboard motor DF350A has received the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s (NMMA) 2017 IBEX Innovation Award for outboard motors at the International Boat Builder’s Exhibition & Conference (IBEX), which is being held in Tampa Florida, USA from 19 to 21 September, 2017.
IBEX Innovation Awards are the best awards in the marine technology, which are given to those new products in the marine industry that demonstrate distinctive technological innovations and deliver practical, cost-efficient, and outstanding consumer benefits.
This is the eighth Innovation Award won by Suzuki four-stroke outboards, the largest number of awards in the engine category of this industry, which accredits our sophisticated technology.
The newest 3-cylinder, 490 cc Suzuki outboard — the 25 and 30 HP versions of which are listed as DF25A and DF30A respectively under Suzuki products — was presented the 2014 Innovation Award by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) at the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX).
With this recognition, the number of innovation awards granted to Suzuki 4-stroke outboards has increased to 7.
Previously, Suzuki received the 2012 Innovation Award at the annual Miami International Boat Show from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA). DF300AP, the product awarded, was a top-notch model of Suzuki, the first variable rotation outboard that can operate in either forward or counter rotation on a single shaft, also incorporates remarkable engineering solutions in terms of displacement, performance, technology and of course, innovation.
The introduction of new Lean Burn Control technology also earned an innovation award for the DF40A and DF50A models in 2011, granted by NMMA at the Miami International Boat Show.
The 2006 innovation award was received by DF300, the first 300 HP 4-stroke V6 outboard with electronic control; the award was granted by NMME at the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX).
The first 4-stroke V6 outboards by Suzuki were DF200, DF225 and DF250, debuted in 2003.
In 2003, DF250 received the innovation award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association at the Miami International Boat Show. Suzuki was the first manufacturer to receive this award for 2 consecutive years.
In 1998, DF40 and DF50, the first 4-stroke, 4-valve per cylinder DOHC powerhead models were recognized with the innovation award, presented at the International Marine Trades Exposition and Convention (IMTEC).
The 1997, the International Marine Trades Exposition and Convention (IMTEC) presented that year’s innovation award to the DF60 and DF70, the first 4-stroke multi-point sequential electronic fuel injection models with electronic control.
