Year 2009 performance of Magyar Suzuki

Magyar Suzuki Corporation (MSC) held its yearly General Assembly with the participation of the shareholders. The GA accepted the 2009 Fiscal Report of MSC. The decrease of both domestic and European sales in a dramatically shrinking passenger car market has significantly affected the production volume of Magyar Suzuki Corporation.

MSC produced 180,166 units in 2009, which is a 36.04 % decrease against the 281,686 unit production in 2008. Total sales of the company in 2009 were 187,269 units, including sales of 2,665 imported vehicles. Out of the 8,112 units registered in Hungary, which include imported vehicles as well, MSC's own production was made up of 2,209 Splash, 3,084 SX4 and 2,480 Swift cars.

The 2009 achievement of the company resulted in a total net sales income of 432,225 Million HUF, out of which domestic sales accounted for 53,718 Million HUF. The company managed to maintain its market leading position for the 13th consecutive year with 13.48 %, in spite of the drastic shrinking of the Hungarian passenger car market.

The export sales numbers also show a decline with the total sales of 173,443 units of own-produced cars, out of which 54,641 units of Swift, 34,091 units of SX4/Sedici, 84,664 units of Splash/Agila and 47 other models were sold. The export and EU sales amounted to 378,507 Million HUF.

Total sales of export and import combined were 187,269 units.

In other sales areas, such as the motorcycle and outboard engine segment, the slide  could also be experienced with a total of 1,001 motorcycle units registered in Hungary. This, however, represented a market share of over 27.74 % and a market leader position for the eighths consecutive year in Hungary with respect to motorcycle sales.

The acquisition-based investment at MSC in Year 2009 was 35,376 Million HUF (up from 6,434 Million HUF in 2008). The yearly production plan for 2010 is roughly 180,000 units, a projection continuously monitored and adjusted to the actual market demands.
