World premiere: Magyar Suzuki launches new Swift mass production

Magyar Suzuki Corporation (MSC) held its Line-Off Ceremony for the brand new Swift rolling off the production line of the Esztergom (Hungary) Suzuki factory. The serial production launch is also a world premiere, since Magyar Suzuki is the first plant globally to produce the new model.

Guests, press representatives, industry leaders and high-ranking Hungarian government officials attended and celebrated the new Swift Line-Off Ceremony in Esztergom, Hungary. Dr. Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary, Mr. György Matolcsy, Minister of National Economy, Mr. Tetsuo Ito, Japan's Ambassador to Hungary, Mr. Tamás Meggyes, Mayor of the City of Esztergom and Mr. Osamu Suzuki, Chairman and CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation cut the ribbon as the new Swift rolled off the production line.

The brand new Swift is positioned as Suzuki's world strategic model with its attractive and user-friendly features. With evolved fuel economy, CO₂ emission, driving performance, impact safety and highly acclaimed styling it becomes more sporty, emotional and polished.

The new Swift is planned for retail sale from autumn 2010 on the European markets.

◦ All-new petrol engine K12B with Dual-VVT (variable intake & exhaust-valve

timing) is the result of downsizing in cylinder displacement from previous M13A

Engine, but maximum output and torque are increased. 

M13A: 68kw/5,800rpm, 116Nm/4,200rpm; K12B: 69kw/6,000rpm, 118 Nm/4,800rpm

◦ Newly evolved diesel engine D13A with DDiS (common-rail fuel injection) is Euro 5-compliant due to more precise engine management and reduction of mechanical friction.

Body

◦    Extensive use of higher-strength steel makes the all-new Swift's body lighter and stiffer. With an increased torsional rigidity, with the adoption of large-diameter, wider, low-profile, wide-tread tyres, and with the refinement of the under-body design and the cornering performance, a sportier handling is provided.

◦    Improved body design provides impact safety, not only for passengers, but also for pedestrians.

Exterior and Interior

◦    The styling of the all-new Swift is dynamic and energetic. The car is made more athletic and elegant, so it has also become more sporty and emotional. The adoption of wider and low-profile tyres makes the exterior sportier.

◦    The interior design of the all-new Swift uses a stylish black as its keynote colour, completed with contrasting silver in the equipment. This contrast brings dynamism to the cabin.
