Suzuki sweeps Hungarian market in 2016 with top-selling locally produced models

Suzuki sold 11266cars in Hungary in 2016, increasing its local market share to 11,67%. With the Baleno added to the global brand’s model range in Hungary, the great performance can primarily be attributed to the facelift of the popular models manufactured locally as well as growing fleet sales.


According to new-car sale statistics by Datahouse, as many as 11266 Suzukis were sold in Hungary in 2016, 11,67 % of all cars (96555 units) sold during the year.

Launched in the spring of 2015, and with turbo engines in 2016, the Vitara was by far the top-seller not only in the SUV class but overall in the passenger car field, with a 23,1663% market share last year. As many as 6538 were registered between January 1 and December 31.

Similarly  popular Suzuki model in 2016 was the SX4 S-CROSS. Following the launch of the revamped version, the model’s sales took a spectacular leap, selling 1643 of the C-category model by the end of the year.

The subcompact Swift also remained top seller: a total of 2087 units were sold during the year, securing the model the 1st place in the B segment.

As regards Suzukis not manufactured in Esztergom but sold in Hungary, the Hungarian network of 75 Suzuki dealers countrywide sold a total of 523, Balenos, 61 Jimnys, and 404 Celerios.

Magyar Suzuki’s domestic sales in 2016 rose to a new record since 2009, with the brand’s share of the local market growing to 11.67% from 9.72% in 2015.

Besides introducing a new model as part of Suzuki’s global model offensive, Magyar Suzuki Corporation attributes the brand’s remarkable local performance to the facelift of popular Esztergom-made models. Moreover, Suzuki managed to increase its fleet sales while remaining popular and Number 1 among private customers.
