Supplier development to Magyar Suzuki mode

The development of Esztergom-manufactured models and model facelifts takes place in continuous cooperation with the suppliers, along with the development of parts and tools needed for the production of parts, which in most cases requires technological developments on both sides. Besides the orders that pose new challenges, Suzuki also supports this process with trainings.

Beside regular company-specific trainings, with the support of HIPA, the company has been training its suppliers for 5 years to apply the innovation management system. „At the moment, we see a serious development opportunity in project management. The speed of model facelifts has accelerated during the last years. In case of suppliers this means that the time period elapsing between the first price proposal and the beginning of serial production requires colleagues who are trained and have strong organizing and leading skills” – said József Kocsis, Operative Manager.

The initial steps of supplier development were the kaizen – development opportunity – trips to Japan, which have fulfilled a significant role for suppliers in acquiring knowledge to this day.
Within the framework of the study tour, Suzuki Motor Corporation makes it possible for participating suppliers to visit Japanese suppliers beside the parent company. During the last journey, more than 140 kaizens were registered by Hungarian specialists.
At present, the company focuses on the field of project management in supplier network development in order to further strengthen the present supplier chain, and to prepare them to be able to perform on an even higher level during the upcoming challenges of the following years.

This is the goal of Magyar Suzuki Corporation and Tier1 suppliers, since only through properly built and organized teamwork can it be achieved that the classic three expectations of project management are fulfilled before serial production is launched: in proper time – at planned expenses – at expected quality.

As a result of the joint work of Magyar Suzuki experts and the specialized professional training company, the supplier training material will be completed, expectedly this year. So, the trainings – adjusted to the size, organizational structure and production profile of the partners – can be realized with the chosen supplier at the partners’ own sites, already in the first quarter of 2020.
To organize trainings facilitating our joint work and increasing the productivity and efficiency of suppliers is also listed among the further plans of Suzuki.

Many suppliers of Suzuki have been partners to the company since it began its operation in Hungary. Thanks to the continuous dialogue, developments and knowledge sharing that characterize this partnership, Magyar Suzuki Corporation has the largest and, according to our opinion, the best supplier network among domestic vehicle producers. More than 4500 vehicle parts arrive daily to our Esztergom factory from our suppliers, 30%-40% of which from Hungarian partners. Hence, Magyar Suzuki also contributes to the growth of Hungarian enterprises.” – the Operative Manager shared the secret of successful cooperation.
